My Love for Gintama / anime and writing as a whole

I finished Gintama about 2 weeks ago, and I love it to death. The main character, Sakata Gintoki, and all of the themes within Gintama is part of why I want to become a writer (or at least a reviewer of stories such as this). All of the connections made throughout and the dynamics and themes that were displayed are truly wonderful, and make me appreciate my choice to become a writing major. My love for writing started from when I was in my senior year of high school, when I wrote a play for my Creative Writing class and presented it to the class. Getting to see other people experience my work was a great feeling, and I hoped to be able to recapture that with my next piece of work–whether that be poetry (which I’ve dabbled into a couple of times), or another story. As for anime, it fed into my love for writing as I got to see how deep some stories and characters could be explored. Lots of them fasinated me such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Bleach, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and of course Gintama. Stories like this strengthen my love as a writer and my desire to write something that makes me feel as good as when I watched these animes, in hope that I can give out emotional stories for my audience, and for myself as well. Even if I don’t have a clear goal in mind or a proper idea of what I want to do, Gintoki from Gintama told me that it’s okay if I don’t have an ambitious goal; as long as I live my life to the fullest, however way I can, then I’d have lived a wonderful life.
